Watauga Lake offers enough fun activities to please every member of your family or group.  There's boat rentals available, canoeing, fishing, swimming, water skiing, jet skiing and more.  However, Watauga Lake is just a short drive (less than 30-45 minutes) to most of the High Country area of Western North Carolina.  The High Country area is well known for whitewater rafting, horseback riding, hiking, biking and so much more.

Vacation activities are limitless.  Tweetsie Railroad, Grandfather Mountain, Mystery Hill, Horn in the West, Golf, Skiing and so much more are all just a short drive away.

The High Country area offers four seasons of fun and there is something for every member of your family.

If you are a lover of the game of golf, then you'll love it here in the mountains.  Take your game to "another level" at our higher elevations.  Boone Golf Club, Mountain Aire, Roan Mountain, Hawksnest, Hound Ears and many other course are all within a short drive.

Spring, Summer and Fall is a great time to go hiking, mountain biking or white water rafting.  There are hundreds of miles of hiking trails, bike paths and you can either venture out on your own or contract with one of many guide companies.  Fishermen will tell you that our area is rich with opportunities to fish the Watauga River, The New River and more.  Fly fishing is a popular pastime.

Winter offers snow sports.  Appalachian, Hawksnest, Sugar and Ski Beech are all within a short drive from most portions of the High Country.

The area is also host to many attractions and
we have included some helpful hints and links to just some of what the area has to offer.  We invite you to view the information and even visit some or all of the websites below.  (Note: If you click on any of the links below, a NEW browser window will open.  Once you are through looking around, you may CLOSE that window and you'll be right back here!)
